Head Brewer, Rodney Stryker, and the tribe at Heathen Brewing have been nationally recognized for brewing some damn good suds.
It was announced today that Heathen Brewing was awarded a Silver Medal for Highland Charge (Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy) and a Bronze Medal for Absolution (Kölsch) at the North American Brewers Association Awards!
Highland Charge is the big brother to Heathen’s McCabe Scottish Export. This troublesome Scottish ale packs a big malty nose with light caramel and toffee notes. The full-on malt assault is balanced by a subtle hint of black cherry just to trick your taste buds. The battlefield bottle art for Highland Charge was created by Vancouver native, Kyle Shold. The same artist behind Heathen’s other “Heathenal” bottle releases like Reindeer Tears, Mega Dank and Sinderella.
Pilsner malts combine with just the right amount of Noble hops make Absolution Kölsch a traditional German-style kölsch that is enjoyable for craft beer newbies and seasoned beer snobs alike.
The North American Beer Awards, held in conjunction with the Mountain Brewers Beer Fest, is a unique event sanctioned by the North American Brewers Association. The event first took place in 1999. The competition provides an opportunity for commercially produced beers to be judged against the best beers in the country. The competition is conducted as a single blind sampling followed by rank ordering of the entries within a category.
Congrats to co-owners Sunny Parsons, Rodney Stryker and the whole tribe on a great win!
